At The London Bass Institute, we value passion, commitment, and character above formal qualifications. While a music degree is an advantage, we warmly welcome applications from exceptional self-taught bassists who can demonstrate strong musicianship, teaching ability, and real-world playing experience. A deep understanding of bass technique, tone production, groove, and music theory is essential. Candidate Requirements
- A genuine passion for teaching and motivating adult learners
- An excellent command of bass technique, groove, rhythm, and tone control
- Strong understanding of harmony, theory, and improvisation
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience (preferred but not essential for highly skilled candidates)
- Ability to adapt lessons to individual student goals and learning styles
- Experience teaching adult students or a willingness to train in adult-specific pedagogy
- Ability to teach a variety of genres including jazz, funk, rock, blues, and pop
- Familiarity with ABRSM or Trinity College grade syllabuses (optional but beneficial)
- Confidence teaching all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced players
