Metal Bass Lessons London

Metal bass is not background support — it is structural power. It is the discipline of driving a band with weight, precision and intent. The great metal bassists make riffs feel larger than the guitar alone, lock the drummer to the floor, and give the music its physical impact — not by being noisy, but by being exact.

If you are drawn to that level of authority — where tight right-hand control, clean articulation and relentless consistency make the whole band sound more professional — these lessons will show you how that sound is built and how to execute it without compromise.

We teach adults exclusively in central London an environment that is focused, serious and free from distraction. Whether you are exploring your first heavy music or already rehearsing, recording or gigging, we will guide you toward a metal bass tone and discipline that other musicians immediately respect.

Lady screaming whilst playing metal bass guitar

From trad metal to djent — the precision, weight and endurance that make riffs hit like concrete.

Perhaps you want to underpin old-school metal with muscular clarity, command modern tightness for progressive or djent styles, or develop the speed and stamina to survive high-intensity live sets. Whatever the sub-genre or objective, the lessons are built around your taste, your ability and your goals.

You will learn to:

  • Produce fast, even and noise-free picking under stage-level pressure
  • Lock with kick drums and guitar stacks for armour-plated tightness
  • Shape gain, EQ and attack for mix-ready metal bass tone
  • Maintain speed, endurance and accuracy without losing clarity
  • Contribute musically — not just loudly — in rehearsals, sessions and shows

Instruction is centred on clarity, repeatability and stage realism — ensuring that progress is not theoretical, but audible in your tone, timing and execution: the kind of improvement that survives amplification, volume and an audience.

Cool bass player jamming

Our bass lessons for adults take place weekly on a fixed day and time at our central London studios, located in both the City of London and the West End.

You may choose between 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons, and you can enrol at any point during the year.

With lessons available on weekdays up to 22:00, as well as on Saturdays, please contact our manager Stefan at enrol@londonbassinstitute.co.uk to arrange the most convenient day and time for your course.

All our bass lessons are tailored to your personal goals and needs. You are also welcome to prepare for ABRSM or Trinity examinations if you wish, though this is entirely optional.

We do not follow a rigid syllabus; instead, we adapt to each individual, as every student deserves dedicated attention.

We ask for an initial three-month minimum commitment, as a shorter period would not allow for meaningful progress. After this, your bass course continues on a rolling monthly basis at your chosen day and time.

If you would like to stop your course, we simply ask for four teaching weeks’ notice. You can give this at any time once you have completed two months of lessons, so that the initial three-month commitment is fulfilled.

You are also welcome to book additional intensive or focused lessons to accelerate your progress, or to prepare for a performance or examination.

Should you wish to arrange longer weekly sessions, such as 90 or 120 minutes, please let us know and we will do our utmost to create a course that meets your requirements.
